Kumar Mahadeva

Kumar Mahadeva founded Kubera in December 2006 together with Ramanan Raghavendran.
He was previously founder, Chairman and CEO of Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation, a leading global outsourcing provider. During his decade long career with Cognizant and prior to his retirement in December 2003, he was instrumental in creating in excess of USD 5 billion in shareholder value and generating total shareholder return in excess of 2,700% (between initial public offering in 1998 and December 2003).
Prior to founding Cognizant, Kumar was Corporate Vice President and Chief Executive for India and China at D&B (formerly Dun & Bradstreet) for five years. Before D&B, he served as Corporate Director for Strategy and Corporate Development at AT&T. Prior to joining AT&T, Kumar was an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company working in that firm's New York, London and Amsterdam offices
Kumar holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Cambridge University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Ramanan Raghavendran
Managing Partner
Mr. Raghavendran founded Kubera in December 2006 together with Kumar Mahadeva.
Prior to founding Kubera, he was responsible for leading the successful cross-border investing efforts at TH Lee Putnam Ventures (THLPV) as a Senior Partner and continues to oversee the THLPV portfolio today.
Ramanan was formerly a Senior Partner at Insight Venture Partners where he invested in business process outsourcing and enterprise software companies, including cross-border investing via Connect Capital, an Insight affiliate. Prior to joining Insight, he was a senior member of the investment team at General Atlantic where he initiated the Internet-related investment effort and also led sector efforts in technology services and enterprise software. Ramanan began his career at McKinsey & Company.
In 2000, Ramanan co-founded Impact Partners, the first venture philanthropy firm in India. Entities funded by Impact now serve more than 1.5 million Indians, mostly underprivileged children. He has served on the boards of numerous NGOs in India and in the United States.
He is on the Board of Overseers of the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania; chairs the India Secondary Schools Committee, which oversees alumni activities in India for Penn Undergraduate Admissions; chairs the Penn Club of Mumbai; serves on the executive committee of the Center for Advanced Study of India (CASI) at Penn; and serves as a governing council member of CASI's sister entity in India, the University of Pennsylvania Institute for Advanced Study of India.
Ramanan holds a BSc in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and a BSE in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania's Moore School of Engineering.
