Winners of EdelGive Social Innovation Honours 2010
The EdelGive Social Innovation Honours 2010 were announced on March 4, 2010 at an event held in Mumbai.The winners have been selected from a pool of 280 participants across India. The selection involved a stringent evaluation process, supported by Ernst and Young as process advisors and official tabulators and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and Institute of Rural Management (IRMA) as field assessors. The final jury members were Amrita Patel, Chairperson, National Dairy Development Board, Deep Joshi, Founder, PRADAN, Surinder Jaswal, Dean, School of Social Work, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Venkat Ramaswamy, Co-Founder, Edelweiss, Vineet Rai, Founder, Aavishkaar - a venture fund founded to promote development in rural and semi-urban India and Zia Mody, Founding Partner, AZB & Partners.
The award of Rs. 50 lacs, sponsored by Edelweiss and Kubera Partners, will support five non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working to empower women in the areas of health, education, livelihoods, governance and socio-cultural rights. Organisations that won are also eligible for capacity building support from EdelGive Foundation. The focus on innovation emanated from the belief that there has been significant underinvestment in innovations that most benefit the poor.
The jury considered innovations that were cost-effective, with the potential to deliver long term benefits.

- Mahatma Gandhi Rural Development & Social Changes Trust, Shimoga
